Victoria and emergency-communications volunteers said the town issued an RFQ and received proposals from at least two vendors, including Genesys and Federal Systems. Committee members emphasized the need for a sound survey before design or procurement decisions; one consultant indicated a flat-area approximation might require a 3-by-3 grid (about nine towers) for broad coverage, but foliage and elevation make a local survey necessary.
Members also discussed the council's recent decision to remove Flock ALPR cameras and whether the camera poles could be retained for emergency-equipment mounting. Staff said they will ask Flock to delay pole removal and will provide pole photos and location maps to the subcommittee for evaluation. A removal schedule beginning Feb. 23 was mentioned.
No procurement decisions were made; the subcommittee will review vendor quotes and the results of a sound survey and report back.
