Rohnert Park rent appeals board elects Jan Kirby chair, Carla Taylor vice chair

Jan Kirby was elected chair of the Rohnert Park Rent Appeals Board and Carla Taylor was elected vice chair during the board's regular meeting.

The board nominated Kirby for chair and, after a second, approved the motion by roll call: Board Member Carla Taylor — yes; Board Member Waller — yes; Chair Pat Raymond — yes; Vice Chair Jan Kirby — yes; Board Member Missaga — yes. The motion passed 5–0. The board then nominated and unanimously elected Carla Taylor as vice chair by the same roll-call method.

The elections followed a staff reminder that the board has historically used a rotational practice — similar to local councils — in which the vice chair often becomes chair in a subsequent term. No contested nominations or amendments were recorded during the votes.

Separately, the board agreed to postpone action on draft minutes of the Oct. 3, 2024 meeting so members can review copies; staff and members set the item to return for consideration at the board's May meeting.

The board adjourned after staff completed presentations and administrative updates and set its next regular meeting for May 1 at 6:00 p.m.
