Council issues proclamations for CACFP and social workers; honors parks employee’s 27 years of service

The Coeur d'Alene City Council on March 17 read proclamations recognizing the National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week and National Social Worker Week and honored Bill Greenwood for 27 years of parks service.
Scott Ferguson, executive director of St. Vincent DePaul North Idaho, accepted the CACFP proclamation and told the council the program’s local footprint: “Locally here we have around 43 home and center providers,” and he reported that in 2025 the five northern counties saw about 700,000 meals reimbursed, which he said equated to roughly $385,000 returned to local organizations.
Megan Dardis Coons, a clinical assistant professor at Boise State University and a social worker, thanked the council for recognizing social workers and described the profession’s role in the community. The council also presented a ceremonial key to the city to Bill Greenwood, who was recognized for his long service in parks and recalled how the parks system grew during his tenure.
Public comment in the early portion of the meeting included Chris Meyer of Parkwood Business Properties, who urged council patience and broad engagement with private-property owners as downtown policy evolves.
