Melissa, a county staff member, asked the committee to approve the extension without naming the employee, noting that the individual had complied with documentation requirements and that staff did not expect to return to the committee with the same request in April. "It's just this additional 30 days," Melissa said, and the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
Shortly afterward, the committee voted unanimously to enter executive session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c) to discuss collective bargaining matters and salary-schedule deliberations for one or more classes of employees. A roll-call vote recorded all members in favor.
The leave extension was approved with confidentiality preserved for the employee as permitted under personnel procedures; the executive-session vote was taken under the statutory citation read aloud during the meeting. No further public details were released during open session.
