Marion welcomes two newly appointed firefighters

The Marion Fire Department introduced two recently appointed firefighters at the Oct. 25 council meeting.
Chief Vin introduced Bronson Nestler (described as 24, local graduate, previous work at Big Muddy correctional facility) and Drake Graat (described as 23, Marion native, college athlete and UPS preloader). The chief thanked the mayor and council for supporting the department as it grows to 29 members and noted the new hires emerged from a competitive testing process overseen by the merit board.
Both firefighters were welcomed to the council dais and received applause from those present. No formal vote was required at the meeting for their introduction; their appointments had been made at a prior meeting, and the introductions were ceremonial.
What’s next: The department noted the hires will be integrated into shifts and training as part of regular onboarding.
