Swansea approves $1.34 million pavement program bid and engineering contracts

The Swansea Village Board approved multiple public-works actions related to streets and drainage, including acceptance of a low bid for its annual pavement management program and two design/observation contracts for upcoming road and culvert work.
Trustees accepted a low bid of $1,336,528.83 from Hanks Excavating and Landscaping for the village’s annual pavement management program. Board discussion noted the project year is large and that a grant of $570,000 (for half of Rosewood construction, through DCO) will be subtracted from the program total.
The board also approved a contract with Tuvenar Wade and Merkin (TWWM) for design and construction observation services for Rosewood subdivision phase II and other smaller projects (not to exceed $86,500). A separate contract for design and construction observation services for three culvert replacement projects (Lynenwood Drive, Mara K Drive, Bobby Drive) was approved with a not-to-exceed amount of $62,700.
All three resolutions were read aloud and passed on roll-call votes. Trustees directed staff to proceed with contracting and to incorporate the grant offset into the project accounting.
Next steps: Village staff will finalize contracts and schedule work; public-works staff noted construction timing and additional coordination would be communicated as details are finalized.
