Council members discussed a bridge project that will create a detour at Exit 2 and said engineering contractor Penoni plans to install a temporary traffic signal at the intersection of the Lacrosse Valley ramp and Wilsair Boulevard during construction. A council speaker said the temporary signal will be evaluated at the end of the project "to determine if it meets the signal warrant requirements," and residents were encouraged to submit comments to influence whether the signal remains after construction.
Officials noted the county is preparing a study of the intersection that may be released this month; council staff said they would coordinate with county officials and make information available to the public. No final decision on the permanent status of the signal was made during this session.
