Warrenville staff says new ERP streamlines permitting; staff report milestone in inspections scheduling

Warrenville's Community Development staff told the committee July 14 that the city's new enterprise resource planning (ERP) permitting software has substantially reduced manual processes and improved transparency for applicants.
Chief code official Lily said the department replaced three separate programs for permits, reviews and inspections with a single platform that allows applicants to apply, pay and track permit status entirely online. "We replaced all of those programs with one streamline software," Lily said, and staff estimated at least a 50% reduction in data entry related to permits and about a 75% reduction in printed permit materials.
Lily highlighted a milestone: all inspections scheduled for the day had been entered in the new system, with no inspections left in legacy processes. Staff reported issuing well over 100 permits and nearly 200 applications since launch and said real-time tracking is available for applicants via online dashboards.
She acknowledged early rollout issues, including limited access to the software during initial weeks that delayed testing, but said the department is gaining efficiency and that staff and residents are beginning to see benefits. Permits and public permit data are publicly visible online, and the system accepts credit-card payments; staff will confirm which other payment methods are available through Finance.
