Representative Long flagged a specific oversight on page eight involving the BTLC district listings and said the list repeated entries and needed correction. “This is just an oversight, not a mistake,” Representative Long said, pointing to the Windham Southwest supervisory union entries that appeared on the map and in the document under different group numbers.
Committee members identified several concrete mismatches: Twinfield Unified School District was listed in different groups on the document and the map; Orleans Southwest (Craftsbury, Greensboro, Stannard, Walcott, Hardwick and Woodbury) was moved in the map and the committee agreed it should be assigned together to the same group; and a Milton coloring question was resolved during the review. Members cited page and line references while confirming which towns and supervisory unions belonged in each group and district.
The committee agreed the corrective step would be to “rejigger” the visual aid so that district colors and group numbers in the map matched the bill language, leaving the legislative text unchanged. Members confirmed other groupings — including the Hartford crossover at group 10 and groups 11 and 12 in certain areas — were correct per earlier decisions.
Rather than proceed immediately to a vote, members scheduled a brief break to allow time to check the corrected materials. The chair proposed a 15-minute recess and discussed options to resume before or after the lunch hour so members could review the updated maps; no formal vote on the bill took place during the meeting.
The committee’s next step is to reconvene after members review the updated visual guide and then proceed to any scheduled vote or additional adjustments.
