Committee approves development of veterans services booklet and website directory

The Veterans Affairs and Services Committee voted unanimously to develop a veterans services directory and booklet that can also be hosted on the parish website.
Commissioner Thomas moved the proposal and it was seconded and approved 5–0. Members said the directory would consolidate state and local resources — including contact points at the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, information on eligible honors such as the Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal, and links to medical and benefit services — and make it available online for easy public access.
Commissioners asked that the booklet be website-ready and include clear links and contact information. Staff were tasked to produce a draft directory for committee review and to coordinate with state veterans offices to verify eligibility criteria and resource listings.
