Portage County approves OCJS domestic-violence grant filing and several community-funding applications; reallocates ARPA food credits

The action was moved, seconded and approved.
Commissioners also authorized applications to Ohio House District 72 for capital community project funds for fiscal years 2027–2028 and approved a separate application to the housing appropriations committee for community project funds. The board approved filing a community-project application on behalf of the Portage County Regional Airport as well.
Separately, the board amended resolution 24-0743 to reallocate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) state and local fiscal recovery funds for use by Portage County Food Programs. The amendment consolidates two of three food-credit allocations into a pooled allocation managed for county food programs, the board said.
Why it mattered: The OCJS grant funds support domestic-violence intervention services and require matching funds; the community-project applications seek state capital support for county projects; the ARPA amendment changes how food-program credits are assigned to increase flexibility across county food providers.
