The City Manager told the advisory board on March 19 that departmental moves are largely complete and that the remodeled council chambers should be ready for the board's first meeting there on May 14, pending completion of AV installation.
"We anticipate our first meeting there being May 14th. Now, again, because of the AV install, it should wrap up around the 5th of May," the City Manager said. The update noted that courts and other departments are moving off the old city hall site and that benches and courtroom furnishings are being prepared for transfer to the new chambers.
The manager said demolition of the old city hall is scheduled to begin the week of April 15 and will begin with utility shutoffs and limited activity that week. Staff said some training opportunities for public safety personnel are being coordinated in conjunction with the moves.
Board members asked about logistics and timing; staff confirmed that the multi-purpose room alterations requested by Judge Hill are nearly complete. The board was told that city hall will be emptied progressively as departments relocate and that some final furniture and nonprofit moves are ongoing.
