Chickasaw County supervisors recommend DNR permit for Dublin Creek, authorize courthouse window project RFP

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on May 4 recommended approval of a Iowa Department of Natural Resources construction permit for Dublin Creek LLC and moved forward on a courthouse public-improvement project, the board said.
The board voted unanimously to recommend the construction permit for Dublin Creek LLC, after Environmental Health Specialist Derek Lechtenberg presented the public notice, matrix evaluation and the county’s recommendation. Supervisor Carter moved the recommendation; the motion carried on roll call with Supervisors Carter, Breitbach, Cerwinske, Suckow and Hackman voting aye.
Economic Development Director Tammy Robinson requested payment of the county’s $2,000 share for Cedar Valley Marketing Match FY25/26 to the Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments; the board approved the payment from General Services. Custodian Dave Gorman described courthouse maintenance needs including mildew, air conditioning and electrical-panel concerns, and the board authorized issuing a request for proposals for a Public Improvement Window Project, pending the county attorney’s review. The board also set a public hearing on that project for May 26, 2026 at 9:10 a.m. and directed the auditor to publish hearing notices in the New Hampton Tribune and Nashua Reporter.
Supervisor Hackman said Iowa lawmakers had worked into the early hours to pass several bills, including property tax relief, and Attorney Laura Folkerts, representing the Iowa State Bar Association and The Iowa State Bar Foundation, presented a commemorative 250th anniversary flag to the board during public comment.
Other business included unanimous approval of a Class C Retail Alcohol License renewal for Bradford Guest House for a 12‑month term effective May 13, 2026, and setting a public hearing for May 18, 2026 at 9:10 a.m. on Amendment #4 to the Fiscal Year 2025‑2026 budget. The board approved the payroll check dated May 1, 2026 and claims totaling $354,708.53.
The board recessed briefly at 9:14 a.m., resumed at 9:20 a.m., and adjourned at 9:49 a.m.
