Committee highlights new Bike Bus, e-bike rules and paved-path safety measures

Colin Topper reported that the first official Bike Bus ran last Friday, a weekly group ride from the bowling alley along bike paths to HMK Elementary School at 7:30 a.m. "The bike bus is a group ride from the bowling alley along bike paths to HMK elementary school," Topper said, and members described it as a continuing Friday program through the end of the school season.
Patrick Trim, the Moab City representative to the committee, described city plans to paint directional delineation lines and add improved signage on paved pathways to reduce user conflicts; he also urged residents to call city police to enforce existing speed and e-bike rules. Members referenced House Bill 831 as clarifying e-bike regulations and helping law enforcement address misuse of bike paths; Steward Moab mentioned producing a pamphlet on e-bike use in Moab.
Katie Stevens and others also raised that Bartlett Wash is underused and suggested creating a public map and hosting additional events there to increase use; the committee discussed seeking GIS shapefiles from the BLM to support mapping and outreach.
