Gulf County commissioners approve multiple purchases, change orders and an appointment in special meeting

During a special meeting the Gulf County Board of County Commissioners approved a bundle of routine procurement actions, change orders and one appointment.
Procurement and change-order approvals included awarding Bid 25-26-15 for firefighting bunker gear to the low bidder, Sunbelt Fire, at $3,322 per set; approving a $33,899.86 deductive change order for the Henry Avenue project (a DOT grant partner project with the City of Wewell), in which one commissioner abstained from the vote because the commissioner's engineering firm provided CEI work on the project; approving a $9,510.54 deductive change order to close out a roads and stormwater project funded with post‑Hurricane Michael funds; and ratifying a $1,573 increase to Roe Drilling for needed well pump materials (covered by grant funds).
Smallwood also presented a grant amendment for 911 recorder maintenance that will increase funding from $64,452 to $68,940; commissioners approved authorizing the chairman to sign the amended grant agreement.
On appointments, the board approved a memo recommending that Cecil Jackson, who runs a driving school, be appointed to the CareerSource board. The appointment was moved and seconded and the board approved the recommendation.
All of the listed motions were carried by majority votes recorded at the meeting; the Henry Avenue change order was approved with one abstention.
