Gulf County commissioners approved a state-funded supplemental agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation that adds $12,927 to a Cypress Creek bridge repair grant and voted to award the underlying construction contract.
Smallwood presented Bid 25-26-14 for the Cypress Creek bridge repair and said DOT had agreed to provide the additional funds needed so the county could proceed: "...they gave us the money we needed, so we're not short." Staff recommended awarding the contract to the low, responsive bidder, Weber Infrastructure Management Inc., at $73,590. The board moved, seconded and approved both the award and the resolution authorizing the chairman to sign the DOT supplemental agreement unanimously.
Related routine items approved during the same portion of the meeting included ratifying a $1,573 increase for Roe Drilling to cover materials when installing a well pump at the White City well (covered by grant funds) and approving a $9,510.54 deductive change order to close out a roads and stormwater project funded with post-Hurricane Michael money. Commissioners recorded unanimous approvals on these items.
The transcript contains an ambiguous phrasing when staff described the grant total as "78,865 thousand dollars"; staff also read that the supplemental adds $12,927 and will bring the total to 78,865 (the clear intent is a modest six-figure or five-figure total, but the transcript's wording is unclear).
