Board approves streamlining committee work into consent agenda

Vice President Neil Patel, chair of the Nursing Practice Committee, asked the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) to change how committee work is handled so that committee recommendations are presented to the full board as consent agenda items unless a board member pulls a specific item for discussion. "Wewant to kind of decrease the duplicative work that we've been doing over the last few years," Patel said, framing the proposal as a way to reduce staff burden and avoid reformatting materials twice in short succession.

The board discussed the proposal briefly; staff said the approach would let board members watch recorded committee webcasts at two times speed and then pull any items needing fuller review. A motion to approve the process change was made and seconded. The board opened the item for public comment; no WebEx or in‑person public requests were submitted. On a roll‑call vote, all members present voted yes and the motion passed.
