At agenda item 10 the board considered a resolution authorizing SCRTD to partner with the City of Sunland Park on an application to the state's Local Solar Access Fund.
Executive Director David Armo said the district learned of the competitive program late, moved quickly to partner with the city and limited its request to about $400,000 to support the microgrid/solar buildout at the Sunland Park facility. "The funds I've asked for is about $400,000," he told the board, adding the grant would reduce local match obligations for planned facility electrification and EV charging.
Armo said the city agreed to serve as the sponsoring entity and that SCRTD would be the project lead and fiscal agent if awarded. The resolution authorizes staff to prepare, submit and administer application materials. Board members voted in favor of the resolution.
