The Fort Worth Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission on May 11 approved a series of formal actions including two resolutions supporting Texas historical markers, multiple tax-exemption verifications, certificates of appropriateness for several new-construction projects, and a transitional parking lot in the Stockyards.
Staff presented Resolution No. 2026-04 supporting placement of a Texas historical marker at Marine Park (303 Northwest 20th Street) and Resolution No. 2026-05 supporting a Park Hill neighborhood marker at approximately 32.71862, -97.356673; both resolutions passed unanimously, 9–0.
The commission certified historic-site tax-exemption verification requests for 2141 Pembroke Drive (HCLC-26-117) and 2200 Harrison Avenue (HCLC-26-118) after staff presentations and brief comments; both verifications were approved 9–0.
On appeals and COAs the commission denied with prejudice an application to retain a front-yard fence at 1615 East Hattie (HCLC-26-055), upholding staff’s finding that the fence is inconsistent with Terrell Heights design guidelines and ordering removal. The commission also approved two new-residence COAs — for 1020 East Loudoun (HCLC-26-089) and 1201 East Morningside (HCLC-26-100) — both subject to staff conditions addressing porch depth, window and siding details; each passed 9–0.
On a larger development item, staff recommended approval of a transitional, temporary parking lot at 660 Union Stockyards Boulevard (HCLC-26-045) with waivers for parking-room layout, tree-canopy coverage, perimeter planting widths and paving materials. Brandon Middleton of Kimley Horn, representing the property owner, described the lot as a three-year interim use while a more permanent hospitality development is planned; the commission approved the lot and the listed waivers 9–0.
Several commissioners thanked staff for detailed reports and asked applicants to return with final permit details. The meeting concluded with the commission adjourning after finishing the agenda.
