Commission approves Badger Bay shoreline encroachment permit and cancels several uncontested primary races

The board considered an encroachment permit for Eric Anderson for shoreline stabilization at Badger Bay on Georgetown Lake. County staff explained Anderson had obtained a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit and zoning compliance; because the lakebed is owned by Granite County the commissioners must approve placement of material on county property. Anderson said he will engage a contractor and provide insurance and bonding before work begins. Commissioners approved the encroachment and agreed a letter of acceptance should be issued conditional on receipt of an insurance certificate and bond.
Later, Election Administrator Sarah Graham briefed the board on several uncontested races for the upcoming primary and recommended canceling write-in lines to reduce ballot size and costs. Commissioners moved and approved a resolution (entered into the minutes) to cancel certain local unopposed primary races; the contested County Commissioner District 1 race will remain on the ballot.
