Council advances Bren Road development ordinance and continues Kyoto Sushi liquor hearing

The Minnetonka City Council on Feb. 23 introduced an ordinance to amend the master development plan for two parcels at 10350 and 10380 Bren Road West and continued a public hearing on a beer-and-wine license application for Kyoto Sushi.
Planning staff (Miss Thomas) explained the owner is proposing to subdivide the roughly 13-acre Opus site into two lots and remove a northerly building the owner described as obsolete for office use. Staff said master-development-plan amendments require an ordinance introduction before Planning Commission review; the council introduced the ordinance and referred it to the planning commission for a public hearing on March 5.
On a separate land-use item, staff presented a change-of-use application for Kyoto Ridgetale LLC (Kyoto Sushi) at 12977 Ridgetale Drive seeking a 3.2% malt-beverage license. The council voted to continue the public hearing until March 23 for final consideration to allow staff to present background and a recommendation at a later date.
Both items were acted on as introductions or continuances rather than final approvals; the planning commission and subsequent council meeting will provide further review and final decisions.
