Task force discusses a multicultural program and a ‘Summer of Love’ concert to consolidate events

At the March 18 meeting the Tiburon Town Diversity and Inclusion Task Force discussed plans to create a recurring multicultural program to coordinate cultural performances and reduce duplicated effort across individual festivals.
Ann Marie Suan described a multicultural performance model (song and dance from multiple regions) and suggested partnering with the Arts & Heritage Commission to host a combined program that could achieve cost and outreach synergies. "It's something that can easily be adapted to be a multicultural event representing multiple cultures," Suan said, citing examples from other Bay Area programs.
Task force members noted that volunteers already shoulder most event planning and suggested the program could help share workload and costs. Members also discussed working with the Chamber of Commerce and confirmed past outreach to Melanie Hadad to coordinate Main Street business activation around town events.
Organizer Nora presented a "Summer of Love" community concert and family picnic concept for a tentative weekend in August at Belvadier Park, proposing local bands, children's activities and interactions with police and fire departments to enhance community activation; dates are not finalized and no funding vote was taken.
The task force encouraged organizers to develop proposals, seek grants and partnerships (including the Tiburon Peninsula Foundation and Belvadier Foundation), and return with budget details for future recommendation votes.
