Parent Jennifer Moa told the board several seniors on the winter basketball team had to choose between attending the senior class trip to Disney and participating in sectional playoff games. She said the conflict repeated a problem from the previous year and that for some students the postseason was a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity tied to months or years of commitment.
Moa said about five seniors missed the playoff game because the trip was scheduled during the postseason; she described the emotional burden on students forced to choose and urged the board to coordinate future trip dates with the athletics director, coaches and other stakeholders so scheduling conflicts are avoided.
Board members acknowledged the concern; administration said it would consider stakeholder collaboration when finalizing future trip schedules. Moa asked the board to prioritize student athletic commitments when planning future senior events.
