Committee advances bill to expand New Castle County human‑resources advisory board

Williams said the board statute had not been amended since 1988 and that New Castle County requested the changes to increase board membership from three to seven and to reduce member terms from six to four years to attract broader participation and align terms with other county boards.
Williams told the committee she worked with New Castle County officials and cited a March 2026 unanimous county council resolution urging the General Assembly to adopt the changes. Virtual public commenter Brandon Toole said the council and the county’s HR advisory board supported the measure.
With no further questions and no in‑person public commenters, a motion to release HB334 was moved and seconded. The committee recorded a roll‑call vote and the chair announced that the bill was released from committee for further processing.
Next steps: the bill will be circulated for signatures and, if the requisite signatures are collected, reported to the House with a recommendation to the floor.
