Corporal Rusty Hodges says B&B Towing has long history of non-compliance

Corporal Rusty Hodges, the investigator on the case, told council that B&B Towing has “a long history of non-compliance with the city.” Staff said this is the third similar violation in a 12-month period and that the prescribed discipline would normally be a six-month suspension. Hodges said staff had tried to work with the company and, as a compromise in prior cases, offered shorter suspensions: “one of the suspensions I offered them was actually 14 days instead of the prescribed 30 days... I gave them 60 days instead of the 6 months.”
Council members noted no representative from B&B was present at the pre-meeting. The chief of police’s office said it had received information and that members would consider any additional details at the regular council meeting.
The pre-meeting produced no formal vote on removal. Council indicated the matter will be addressed at the regular meeting where members expect to determine the final disciplinary outcome or hear the company’s response.
The hearing record shows this is an enforcement matter brought by city public-safety staff and does not contain evidence of remedial actions offered by B&B beyond the grievance letter referenced by staff. The city’s next procedural step is to continue consideration at the regular council meeting.
