The City Council approved a package of second-reading ordinances and an amendment related to a SunCrest Real Estate project at 541 Barton's Creek Road in Ward 3.
Councilwoman Camille Burdine moved the measures (including a future land-use change to downtown mixed-use and South Hartman Gateway Overlay amendments) and Councilman Joey Carmack seconded. During the ordinance for the Barton Villa East North specific plan, Burdine proposed and discussed an amendment to allow signage on the north side of the building and on the secondary street and to move the buildout measurement from 70 feet to 90 feet; she said she had discussed the tweak with the developer.
The council voted on the amendment first and then voted on the amended ordinance; both passed on voice votes with no recorded opposition. Josh Rowland, a Kimley-Horn representative for SunCrest, said the developer had coordinated with planning staff and Councilwoman Burdine to address outstanding issues ahead of the vote.
The ordinances amended the future land-use plan and the South Hartman Gateway Overlay and changed zoning designations for the cited parcel; the council recorded motions and approved the second readings by voice vote. The measures will proceed under the city's normal implementation and permitting process.
