Planning director outlines upcoming plats, zone change and flood work

George said staff will present a proposed preliminary plat for 46 lots off Babs Avenue and is reviewing a zone-change request near the city’s north end that would rezone R3 (high-density residential) to C1 (commercial) to allow construction of a brewpub. He also noted a short-plat resubmittal for six lots and an application on Seventh Street for a 38-lot residential subdivision under review.
On flood issues, George said he will attend Department of Ecology training on flood-control assistance and that staff has applied for a state grant to evaluate Green Acres mobile home park flooding and help guide next steps. He said the city is reviewing ordinances related to RV and manufactured-home parks in light of changing state rules and that legal counsel is redrafting some language to align with state guidance.
The briefing was informational; commissioners had follow-up questions about floodplain language, potential grant timelines and public engagement. Several items will return to the commission for formal review or a staff report.
