City staff opened sealed bids for a major Boyd Boulevard stormwater-improvement project during the March 17 La Porte City public works meeting. The project will install a new stormwater pipe and expand the regional stormwater facility serving Boyd Boulevard.
Two bids were read aloud: HRP Construction submitted a base bid of $5,349,750; Rereath Riley Construction submitted $6,758,534.22 and did not provide the alternate bid item. Staff said the board needed only to take the bids under consideration; any award will be made by the redevelopment commission at its March 25 meeting after review.
Craig Phillips (staff) asked the board to take the bids under advisement so redevelopment staff and legal/engineering reviewers can evaluate responsiveness, alternate items and budget. No award was made at the March 17 meeting.
