Key items included: two grants for fire turnout gear that total $90,000 in authorized expenditure with $71,425 expected to be reimbursed; a $50,000 carryover from a prior master-plan grant; approximately $65,000 to satisfy the city's portion of an orphan drain district assessment (staff chose to pay the amount rather than accept a 3-year installment with interest); and an allocation to the Terrace Square fund in the amount of $107,500 (the packet showed $100,000 for possible restaurant-space buildout and $7,500 for increased AV costs). City staff emphasized that the budget action allocates authority but does not itself expend funds or finalize leases; any contract or lease will return to the commission for approval.
Treasurer Mr. Smith and HR/administrative staff briefed the commission on the changes and confirmed the city expects to cover the costs within existing operations and capital allocations. Commissioners approved the set of amendments by roll-call vote.
Staff noted one item: the tax-tribunal defense item was primarily budgeted for appraisal work tied to two pending tax-tribunal matters; attorneys will be engaged as needed. The commission directed staff to return with detailed contract or expenditure requests where appropriate.
