The Tallery City Council approved its consent calendar and separately accepted a $200,000 community cleanup and employment pathway grant on March 17.
Council Member Maderos introduced discussion of item 7.7 and commended city staff for securing the grant. Maderos praised City Manager Manny Korea and project partner Jason Bowling for their roles in obtaining the funds and asked operational questions about how the grant might support neighborhood rolloff events and targeted alleyway cleanups. Korea said the program could be tied to alleyway cleanups and allow placement of rolloffs near cleanup sites, with staff and Solid Waste crews monitoring for prohibited items such as tires and batteries. Jason Bowling was also acknowledged by council for his assistance in developing the grant.
The council moved and seconded the acceptance of item 7.7 and approved it by voice vote. The council also approved consent calendar items 7.1–7.6 in a single motion earlier in the meeting.
Next steps: staff will coordinate rollout details, including advertising in multiple languages and working with Solid Waste to control electronics and other restricted materials at collection points.
