The Porter County council selected Adam J. Mendel to serve as the council’s attorney after interviews with three candidates.
The council considered three applicants in open discussion; motions to nominate several candidates were made. A motion for Adam J. Mendel received a second and passed on roll-call votes.
The meeting also handled several routine personnel and housekeeping items. Judge Jeffrey Clammer’s Form 144 was updated to allow part-time hourly pay up to $25 per hour; the council approved the update. Auditor Karen Martin presented a transfer request that the council approved, and the council corrected a prior publishing error to record the CDL trainer stipend as up to $2,000 per year.
On board appointments, the council discussed opening and outreach procedures for ambulance-board and EDC positions. Anna Lisa Warren (transcript spelling variants include 'Anna Lisa Warren' and 'Lease Waring' in meeting remarks) was nominated and approved for the Valparaiso EDC seat.
The council closed the public-comment period with no speakers and adjourned the meeting.
