Marion schools honor JROTC cadets and 20 voluntary pre‑K programs for excellence

The Marion County School Board opened its March 24 meeting with student recognitions: Cadet Bradley Hitchcock of Forest High School led the Pledge and described mentors who supported his academic and leadership path, and the board recognized three Forest High cadets who received military academy appointments.
Superintendent Dr. Danielle Brewer and others acknowledged Cadet Bradley Hitchcock (appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy), Cadet Cullen Briggs (U.S. Naval Academy), and Cadet Landon Daughty (U.S. Military Academy at West Point) and invited the students for photos.
Director of Early Learning Ms. Jennifer Beck introduced Latricia Sims of the Early Learning Coalition, who presented certificates from the Division of Early Learning recognizing 20 voluntary pre-kindergarten (VPK) programs in Marion County for the 2024–25 school year. Ms. Sims read each school, principal, teacher and paraprofessional nominated for the distinction and handed letters and certificates to sites. The board thanked the Early Learning Coalition and congratulated the educators.
