At the board’s work session the district athletic director summarized the winter-sports season and praised student-athletes, coaches and event staff for recent accomplishments.
Mr. Hullenback said the boys basketball team reached the postseason for the first time since 2021, and the girls basketball team won the LL league title — the program’s first league title since 2014 — and advanced to district competition. He highlighted girls wrestling, which qualified as a team for districts for the first time in school history and produced state placers; one wrestler finished fourth in the state.
"We were able to qualify as a team for districts for the first time in school history," Mr. Hullenback said of the girls wrestling program, and he called out individual achievements including state placers and district champions in multiple sports.
The district hosted several championship events this winter, including the LL wrestling championships and district basketball championships when other venues were unavailable. Mr. Hullenback credited event staff, custodians and volunteers for the logistics of hosting multi-day competitions.
Board members asked to recognize student-athlete leadership and to publicize team accomplishments; Mr. Hullenback invited the board and community to attend upcoming spring competitions.
Next steps: The board will consider formal recognition at a future meeting and continue oversight of facility investments to support hosting large events.
