County updates homeowners on reappraisal rollout, appeal process and deadlines

Krager emphasized property owners can view values online and appeal now even if they have not yet received a mailed notice.
Krager outlined appeal options and deadlines: owners have a 30‑day appeal window starting from when they receive a notice; filing an informal appeal with the assessor’s office often resolves issues before a formal Board of Equalization and Review hearing; the deadline to file a formal appeal for those who have not already started the process is May 5; and June 1 is the deadline to apply for tax relief programs. He encouraged owners to check property record cards for correct building and land information, bring photos or appraisals to appeal clinics, and contact the exemptions office for questions.
Krager also described community appeal clinics being held across the county, the availability of staff and volunteers (including local appraisers and real estate agents), and phone numbers for appointments and exemptions assistance. He said the assessor’s office can start an appeal at a clinic without the owner finalizing it on the spot and that supplemental notices following permit activity will open a new 30‑day appeal window.
