Bandon administrators outline math pathways, cite assessment data showing gains

The presentation highlighted assessment results the district considered promising: for grade 8 mathematics, presenters reported that 41% of Bandon students met or exceeded the state standard, compared with roughly 27.7% statewide. Presenters cautioned that small cohort sizes can swing percentages and said targeted supports are in place, especially for grade 5 where the district identified the greatest need.

Administrators said their plans include vertical alignment across grade levels, use of math specialists (including partnership work with Ocean Crest), and built-in professional-development time for teachers to analyze data and adjust instruction. No new board action was taken; the presentation was informational, and board members asked several clarifying questions about monitoring and goal timelines.
