Williams estimated a full conversion of Warren Road’s three aging tennis courts into six dedicated pickleball courts at up to $542,000, a figure that includes demolition, design, permitting and contingency.
In the short term, staff and community groups are using athletic tape to mark courts in gymnasiums (estimated $1,000–$4,000 per gym for permanent striping depending on floor condition). Commissioners asked procurement to identify local vendors and comparable projects (Hepso/other municipal installs were cited) and asked parks to return with vendor contacts and cost comparisons.
What to expect: Parks will continue temporary indoor accommodations while pursuing capital funding and community engagement sessions to decide whether to redevelop existing tennis facilities or allocate new sites for dedicated courts. Director Williams said the department will assemble community input, review floor conditions and explore funding sources, and will return with procurement options and a recommended sequence of projects.
