Hunter's Ranch resident urges action after months of detour traffic from Admiral Callahan closure

At the public forum, resident Kristen Bautista told the Vallejo Planning Commission that since June 2025 the Admiral Callahan Lane closure has turned her Hunter's Ranch neighborhood into an ongoing commercial traffic corridor and that repeated timeline extensions and limited transparency have left residents feeling blindsided.

"We agreed to one level of disruption, and we are now living with something far more severe and prolonged," Bautista said, describing ineffective detour signage, heavy retail traffic cutting through residential streets, weekend surges in vehicles, speeding, near misses and pedestrian safety risks. She asked the commission for a clear project timeline, immediate traffic mitigation beyond signage — including enforcement and physical traffic-calming measures — and accountability for how the extended construction impacts were allowed to continue.

The chair thanked her for raising the safety concerns and said the matter appears to relate to planning and public-works functions and that staff would examine mitigation options. No formal action or vote was taken during the meeting on this item; commissioners asked staff to follow up and report back.
