After an initial procedural motion failed, the commission passed a motion (moved by Commissioner Hernandez and seconded by Chair Wise) directing Commissioners Schaeffer and Vice Chair Vidor to complete the state application for a ceremonial proclamation and to have staff submit it no later than March 30; the vote was 6–0 in favor.
Vice Chair Vidor described the application as "very short and straightforward," listing required fields including applicant name, phone, email, organization, recipient and requested date; Vidor recommended that Commissioners Schaeffer and Vidor serve as an ad hoc to complete the form. Separately, Chair Wise proposed forming an ad hoc to coordinate the commission’s budget request should funding be available. Chair Wise, Commissioner Miller and Commissioner Thorson volunteered; the motion to establish the budget ad hoc passed unanimously (6–0). Chair Wise volunteered to serve as the designee to organize meetings and logistics for the ad hoc committee.
Next steps: the proclamation ad hoc will work with staff Taylor to submit the application by March 30 and the budget ad hoc will begin planning and hold regular check‑ins to prepare any fiscal requests to the council.
