At the start of its Jan. 21 meeting the Vallejo Planning Commission opened public hearing item 7A, a recommendation to the City Council on an ordinance amending the municipal code to establish a by‑right housing overlay for specific housing element inventory sites. Planning staff (speaker 11) said additional time was needed to continue conversations with potentially affected property owners. Commissioners discussed whether to continue to a specific date or leave the item date‑uncertain; commissioners and staff noted that, regardless, property owners would be individually invited to the next hearing.
A member of the public who had intended to comment on a related subdivision (Vista Cove) was asked to wait until that separate item was called. After discussion, the commission made a motion to continue item 7A to Feb. 18, 2026; the motion carried 5–1. The continuation places further public comment, outreach and staff‑applicant engagement ahead of a formal recommendation to City Council.
