The Vallejo Commission on Culture and the Arts voted Jan. 26 to forward three draft policy memos to the City Council and asked that the city attorney’s office be asked to perform feasibility reviews.
Chair Daniel Weiss said the protocol aims to prevent recommendations from "passing into a void" by ensuring the council and city attorney know which feasibility studies the commission seeks. Weiss explained the group will prepare concise, one‑page summaries to accompany recommendations so the council can request feasibility work from the attorney’s office.
Commissioner Chris Thorson moved to send the memos — on long-term funding for the arts, the loan-and-gift policy, and one related memo — to the council for review and a feasibility study request. Commissioner Monique Schaeffer seconded. The motion passed on roll-call vote 7-0.
The commission asked staff to include the memos with the March council agenda packet where appropriate and to shepherd the feasibility request through the city attorney’s office.
