Ginger Burnett was re‑selected as chair and Dan Smith was chosen as vice chair of the SolTrans Public Advisory Committee after a unanimous vote during the meeting.
The PAC took up agenda item 5A, the annual selection of both the chair and vice chair for 2026. Staff member Angel reviewed the routine process and responsibilities for each role. Member Tom Barty nominated the incumbent to remain as chair, explaining that Burnett had not served a full term and another year would be appropriate. A second was made and Dan Smith accepted the vice‑chair nomination.
The chair asked the madam clerk to call the roll. The recorded responses—Rachel Bagwat, Ginger Burnett, Dan Smith, Tom Barty, Cynthia Tanksley, Richard Burnett, Avery Livingood and Ethan Standifer—registered as affirmative; one member, Adria McDonald, was recorded as absent. With those responses the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
Why it matters: PAC leadership sets the agenda and helps steer outreach and review priorities for SolTrans over the year ahead. The officers’ terms will commence at the next quarterly PAC meeting and expire Dec. 31 of this year.
Tom Barty, who nominated the chair, said, “I’d like to recommend that, you remain as chair.” Dan Smith responded briefly when accepting the vice chair role: “I kindly accept.”
The PAC moved on to the next agenda item after congratulating the new officers and noting logistical details for upcoming meetings.
