Board hears enrollment dip, encourages kindergarten registration; Confluence initiative not moving forward

Seth reported the district’s average daily membership (ADM) figures and gave context for the numbers, and a board member publicly announced the district will not move forward with the Confluence initiative.
On enrollment, Seth said October’s ADM was about 3,550 (he cited "3,549.6" as an approximate figure) and that the official Feb. 2 count was 3,511. He described the February dip as expected for the second semester and pointed to factors including about 25 early graduates and some families withdrawing students for homeschooling or online programs. He noted the district has a larger than recent incoming kindergarten cohort, which may help offset higher-grade declines, and reminded families that kindergarten roundup is March 19.
On the Confluence initiative, a board member said the district will not move forward with the initiative at this time and will instead look for other grant opportunities. The member said the board had previously authorized exploration of the grant but has decided not to proceed now.
Seth also reminded the board that the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 23.
