Lea City Council met in a special session that was called to order at 06:35PM and adjourned at 08:10PM. The council moved into closed session to confer with its labor negotiator regarding the unrepresented interim city manager under Government Code section 549.57.6.
The city attorney reported out after the closed session, stating, “The council did provide direction to its agency designated representative, and there is no other action to report at this time.” The city attorney also read that the agency-designated representative named for the meeting was Stephanie Cifuentes, the human resources director.
During roll call the council recorded a quorum: Council Member Magenzer, Mayor Sorensen, Vice Mayor Retulich, Council Member Gordon and Council Member Matias were present. Council Member Zedezhu and Paul Maras were noted as absent. The council checked for public comment on the closed-session item and no members of the public sought to speak.
By statute, closed sessions for labor negotiations limit what can be disclosed publicly; consistent with that constraint, the council’s report out said only that it had provided direction to its designated representative and that no other reportable action occurred. The meeting then adjourned at 08:10PM.
