Officials said the current purchase price for a replacement recycling container is $22 and that the proposed ordinance would change it to $26, with lids available for an additional $5. The council introduced the ordinance on its first reading, seconded and approved for publication; a public hearing was scheduled for the Nov. 10 meeting.
Council members asked procedural questions about the public hearing and confirmed the ordinance would return to the council for final consideration after the public-comment period. No roll-call opposition was recorded on introduction.
