A staff member, Bridget, responded: “We’ve been meeting regularly with the police department…and we’re going to be purchasing some new equipment to equip the parking enforcement officers’ vehicles with automatic license plate readers that will allow them to just drive through the neighborhoods and that will immediately identify a vehicle that’s in violation. The equipment is on order right now…we’ve also given the approval to hire a traffic enforcement officer to work the midnight shift.”
After closing public comment, the council adopted the ordinance by roll-call vote; Deputy Mayor Tumi, Councilwoman Clark Collins, Councilman Carol, Councilman Diaz and Mayor Gaines all voted in favor.
