City manager: administrative order for wastewater closed; water projects continue

The "Shovel Ready" water project is active across town; the contractor is engaging daily with city inspectors and the manager said the team is distributing letters door-to-door to notify residents about schedule and impacts so businesses and residents can plan.
He said the city relocated a fire hydrant near the corner of Foch and Main for safety and described daily efforts to coordinate with schools, the hospital and a nursing home to maintain water pressure during work. The manager warned residents to avoid walking into active construction zones so crews can keep schedules and safety.
Separately, he reported Morgan Street sewer work will connect a private developer's sewer line to the city system, enabling four new apartments to hook up. The manager said the city will continue to pursue roof assessments through the municipal league to plan future repairs on municipal buildings.
Commissioners raised funding and scheduling questions; the manager said city teams will continue door-to-door outreach and that the city is actively pursuing matching and capital funds for several projects.
No formal commission vote was required on these informational items; staff noted they will return with contract or budget items as appropriate.
