Property tax/rent rebate program: the district described a locally run program modeled on the state property tax/rent rebate that allows residents who qualify under the state rules to apply for a district rebate. Administration said the maximum district rebate in the current year increased to $250 and cited a sliding scale tied to state eligibility (administration referenced a $48,110 threshold for maximum eligibility). Last year the district issued 117 rebates, with six applications denied primarily because applicants were not approved by the state or did not reside in the district; one application was denied for missing the deadline. The administration recommended continuing the resolution and adjusted the application deadline to accommodate district holiday closures.
Berks County Career & Technical Center (BCTC): administrators reported the BCTC budget rose by just under 5% and the district’s mandated share increased by 4.15, a $21,451 rise that brings the district contribution to approximately $2.1 million for the coming year; a special‑needs share of $17,433 was listed as a decrease compared with the prior year.
YMCA contracts: the board heard about two recurring agreements with the YMCA. The summer camp will be relocated to Middle School West this year because Boyertown Elementary will have HVAC and roof work over the summer; the before/after‑school program contracts include a 3% rate increase from last year across participating elementary sites.
Votes and motions: the board moved to approve the February 24, 2026 meeting minutes and recorded a roll‑call vote with eight yes votes and one no (Miss Nyman voted no); the motion carried. Later the board approved the personnel agenda as presented with a unanimous roll‑call vote.
Public comment and funding advocacy: Donnie Savage, a public education advocate, urged the board to press state legislators for passage of the Ready to Learn (adequacy) funding installments, summarized the 2019 court ruling that found Pennsylvania’s school funding method unconstitutional, and said Boyertown has received about $2.9 million in adequacy funding to date and remains owed roughly $10.3 million; he urged immediate outreach to legislators while the state budget is being negotiated.
