Superintendent outlines Panorama wellbeing findings, sets 10-point improvement goal

The superintendent said the district’s grades 3–5 results fell about four percentage points overall compared with prior reporting, though the cleanliness question improved 1 percent and staff responses rose on several items. Staff survey results included a 29-point increase on the question about how supportive colleagues are of new initiatives, and several staff items increased by roughly six percentage points. Family survey response improved substantially, from 8 responses in fall 2023 to 332 in the most recent administration; families recorded a small overall gain with seven of 10 family questions improving.
Board members asked for more granular analysis. Vice President Young flagged transportation as a potential barrier to engagement after family responses showed only about 55 percent favorable on transportation-related questions; board members requested a deeper breakdown to determine whether the problem reflects household access or district bussing patterns. Viviano said staff will provide a more detailed report that breaks the Panorama results down by grade, demographic group and question.
Administrators said Panorama’s platform includes playbook resources for classroom- and school-level interventions and that school leaders will use those tools along with data-driven 90-day plans. The district also intends to review student subscales such as self-management, belonging and self-efficacy when planning supports. Staff said a revised, more detailed report will be shared with the board and families and used in upcoming work sessions.
The presentation concluded with next steps: staff will produce an itemized report with subgroup breakdowns and recommendations, continue outreach to increase response rates where needed, and bring action plans back to the board for review.
