The California Board of Accountancy used its March 13 meeting to highlight public‑facing outreach: a yearlong 125th anniversary program and an active campus tour series aimed at students and community colleges.
President Christian Lada described plans for a historical timeline, newsletter features, social media and multimedia content and a March 23 video commemorating the board’s founding in 1901. He noted a Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR 111) had been introduced to mark the anniversary.
Outreach Coordinator Mick Murray reported eight campus tour stops so far in 2026 and nine additional planned events, including community college and university visits and a faculty‑focused virtual event about community college certificate programs that could substitute for six months of the general accounting experience requirement. Murray said the campus tour drew attention from Bloomberg Tax, which published a feature on the CBA’s outreach and campus tour efforts.
Staff also described recent webinars for licensees that exceeded capacity, a new podcast episode featuring the board president, and increases in social media engagement. Board members urged continued outreach to firms to ensure employers understand new licensure pathways so students are not disadvantaged by choosing alternative education or experience routes.
The board celebrated outreach progress and encouraged continuing communications to students, faculty and firms as AB1175 and other licensure changes are implemented.
