The Glenwood Springs City Council unanimously approved Ordinance 2026-04 (COMDEV 000015-2026) on March 19, 2026, adopting the Colorado Wildfire Resilience Code by reference on its second reading.
Trent from Community Development introduced the item and confirmed that required notice steps had been completed after an initial February 19 discussion. The council opened the public comment period for the item; no one came forward. Councilor Townsley moved to adopt the ordinance on second reading; the motion was seconded and the ordinance passed 6-0.
City staff said adopting the code by reference brings the city’s building standards into alignment with statewide wildfire-resilience measures, and the ordinance will be implemented through the Community Development department’s normal permitting processes. The council did not amend the ordinance at second reading.
The ordinance vote was recorded as unanimous (6-0). The measure becomes part of the city’s adopted codes and will be applied in future development reviews and building permits.
